Wall Street Exchange Program
“Welcome To The Real World-A Day In The Life Of An Analyst”
This is the second article in a series that highlights the summer of the 2008 Wall Street Exchange Program. Students participating in the program are contributors to this series.
While previous WSE events equipped us with the necessary skills to navigate through the recruiting process, “A Day in the Life” at Credit Suisse gave us unique insights into the work and day-to-day life of a first year analyst. The panel consisted of four first year analysts: Trista, Marie-Christine, Katlyn and Michael. Although they had very different academic pursuits and personal interests prior coming to Credit Suisse, they have enjoyed their experience at Credit Suisse and acknowledged it to be an exciting learning opportunity. While the nature of the work might be stressful at times, all of them emphasized the importance and role of “the people” and culture at Credit Suisse that made the work environment fun and supportive. When asked about work-life balance, the women panelists advised us to manage our expectations rather than having false expectations. Lastly, all panelists encouraged WSE class of 2008 to continue exploring different fields of finance in order to deepen our understanding and ultimately find our ideal career path.
